A big company comes to town or your company's own management isn't great and your staff bolts for the doors.
What can you do to prevent this?
1. Ensure a great performance appraisal system is in place and actually used. Managers need to be held accountable in their own appraisals for conducting reviews of their staff. Make sure top performers are rewarded.
2. Research salaries in your area for comparable roles. Are your salary scales in line with your geography? If not, adjust accordingly.
Managing up isn't easy, but if you can bring change and consistency to the employee review system, you will retain star employees. And we all know how hard it is to find them, so don't let them go!
