AI Interference

Before the AI surge in the past year, there was a lot of talk about how AI would improve hiring processes. At the start of 2026, it feels like it's only complicated it further, but future data will have to shed more light.

ResumeNow conducted a survey in March 2025 of 925 HR workers and reported the findings in this AI and the Applicant Report. AI appears to have helped companies improve time-to-hire and in some cases identify top candidates, but then:

  • 90% reported an increase in low-effort or spammy applications

  • 62% of employers said they reject resumes that lack a personal touch

  • 78% of hiring managers said they look for personalized details as a sign of genuine interest and fit
