AI prompts: targeting a higher level or making a career change

AI prompts to identify skills you need if you're making a career change or targeting a higher level.

• General job title help: "What are the top 5 skills and qualifications required for a jobseeker targeting [insert relevant job title] roles?" 

• "Can you help me identify transferable skills from the following job descriptions and accomplishments that are relevant to a target job position as a [insert relevant job title]? (Cut and paste your previous job descriptions/work experience)

• "What are the unique selling points or strengths that this jobseeker possesses that can set them apart from other candidates applying for a position as [insert relevant job title]? (Cut and paste your previous job descriptions/work experience

Here are some tips to help you get the most of ChatGPT or other AI prompts. 

• Ask for volume instead of aiming for a single perfect answer: give me 10 job titles, tell me the top 5 skills, think of as many job skills as possible for a [profession] and rank them in order from most important to least as if you are a hiring manager.

• “Act as if.” Beginning your prompt with these words will instruct the bot to emulate an expert. For example, typing “Act as if you are a hiring manager” will guide the bots to model themselves around people in those professions. 

• Thread conversations. After you get the hang of prompts, you can make your chatbot more helpful over time. The key here is to avoid treating your chatbot as a web search and starting with a fresh query each time. Instead, keep several threads of conversations open and add to them over time.
