Choose to Change the World

I'm starting where the conversation ended, but you have to listen to get the full dose of inspiration from our podcast guest Scott Beale. He's the former head of global operations for the Peace Corps, award-wining CEO and founder of Atlas Corps, and an executive coach.
"We focus on what we can see and the challenges in the process - open the possibilities to things you can't see."
Given the current job market, the focus on AI, and global crises, I love this advice. In other words, what am I missing? We are limited in our thinking based on our upbringing and the boxes we are put into from a young age; we need to find what we can't yet see.
As Scott says, when you see the world and challenges in a new way, you can see answers and solutions in a new way. It may take leaving your comfort zone.
We talk about the Japanese process Ikigai, where you define 1) what you love; 2) what you’re good at; 3) what the world needs; and 4) what you can get paid to do. You can find more details online for how to do this, but start brainstorming and seeing how these answers intersect. While you may have done this kind of exploration in the past, know that there's not one answer to these questions and your answers can change over time.
Another thing we explore is our reliance on our jobs to define our value. He encourages us: "Is my entire value the job I have? Our human value shouldn’t be wrapped up in our professional titles."
