Seeking an escape
Before our move to Vilnius, a family member asked me how I felt about leaving the U.S. after five years. It suddenly came to me. The reason I enjoy moving - despite the incredible hassle and emotions that come with it - is that it's like a gift. Each new place is a box with surprises inside.
I don't know who I will meet, where I will shop, or the new places I will travel. And quite honestly, the pandemic created a need in me to shake up the routine.
Believe me: i know this lifestyle is not a normal or common way to escape and re-energize yourself, but what this revelation made me realize is that this box of surprises applies to ANYTHING new.
- Walking down a new street can energize you.
- Going on a hike in nature can energize you.
- Exploring a new town can energize you.
- Speaking with someone new can energize you.
- Learning something new can energize you.
- Volunteering can energize you.
What's one thing you do that allows you to escape and makes you feel rejuvenated?
