So close to being hired...and then not

You've worked so hard and put in so much effort from the start of a hiring process. You're in the final interview round, so close to a job offer, and then...rejected.
And maybe it happens, once, twice, three times, or more.
Often, it's completely out of our control. We don't have years of experience in the industry like another candidate, we weren't referred by a current employee, or maybe they "went in another direction with the role."
